ADSS Cable Accessories

When looking for the right cables for electrical distribution, there are many different options that you can play around with. One of them is the All Dielectric Self Supporting (ADSS) cable. This is a type of self-supporting optical fiber cable that does not require any kind of support in distributing electricity from one point to another.

As much as they may be independent, these cables are usually installed on poles and power lines. This is where the ADSS cable accessories come into play.

ADSS/OPGW/OPPC Accessories

ADSS Accessories

ADSS Accessories include Tension Assembly (Clamp), Suspension Assembly (Clamp), Optical Distribution Frame (ODF)/ Optical Termination Box(OTB), Optical Termination Box, Outdoor Splicing Box (Closure), any other required accessories.

The offered tension clamp is suitable for the ADSS cable. Powertelcom tension clamps have a lifetime of at least 30 years.

The maximum tensile force of the tension clamp is as per the design of the network.

Optical Distribution Frame (ODF)

  • Standard 19 inch installation: fully enclosed rodent proof structure.
  • Keyway type.
  • Full front operation: capable of installation against the wall, side by side, or back to back.
  • Complete cable routing design with fiber bend radius over 40 mm.
  • Modular design with easy installation.
  • Splice and Distribution Module with a capacity of 12 ports with FC adaptors.
  • ODF has a modular design for 19 inches standard frame.
  • Optimal arrangement for patch cords with fiber storage units.
  • Reliable holding, protection, and grounding of optical cables.
  • Suitable for ribbon and non- ribbon fibers.
  • It can accommodate value-added modular units such as fiber splitters, WDM, etc.
  • The size of the rack is as per the port capacity requirement as per the design
  • Powertelcom can supply accessories for fixing the ODF.

Optical Termination Box

  • Termination boxes are to be installed in Telecom Sites.
  • Termination boxes are wall mountable with keyway entry access.
  • It can accommodate with FC adapter.
  • The termination boxes have at-least two inlets for two cables and inlets for patch cords are separated.
  • Powertelcom can supply the necessary accessories for fixing the termination box.

Grounding arrangements with grounding materials are provided to ground metallic parts of OFC and termination box to the existing station earth.

Outdoor Splicing Box (Closure)

Re-enterable four-way water-proof and air-tight (at least up to 1 m depth of water) closure are supplied for different sizes of optical fiber Cables.

The outdoor splicing box is a dome type.

The closure is made of materials that are fire and chemical resistant and are mechanically strong (not break or deform when falling from a height of at least 5m on a hard cement surface).

Any other required accessories

Powertelcom can supply any other additional accessories required for the cable in addition to the tension and suspension clamp as mentioned above, such as down-lead clamp, cable storage, helical dampers.

All the metals/ fastening clamps are Hot dip Galvanized. The fastening clamps size is as per the dimension of the pole and tower found during design.

All the offered accessories have a lifetime of more than 30 years.

What are ADSS Cable Accessories?

ADSS/OPGW/OPPC Accessories

ADSS cable accessories are simply fittings that are used to fix the ADSS cables to the poles so that the cables can perform their duties as required.

Since there are many different types of ADSS cable accessories each one of them is designed to perform different roles on the cable.

What Is the Application of ADSS cable Accessories?

Naturally, ADSS cable accessories are expected to be found anywhere that there is ADSS cable. This automatically means that they are suitable for all the applications that involve the use of ADSS cables.

The accessories or fittings are applicable in situations where the cable is likely to be exposed to elements of nature. Such elements include high temperature, strong winds, and ice load. They ensure that the fiber optic cable remains intact.

ADSS fiber optic cable hardware is used in telecommunication and power utilities. As long as these installations have the ADSS cables, expect to find the respective fittings on them.

ADSS cable accessories are also used in the underbuild applications. They ensure that the ADSS fiber optic cable remains steady to minimize the unexpected outages.

What are the Types of ADSS Cable Accessories?

Here are some main types of ADSS cable accessories that you can buy:

  • Armor grip suspension: This type of ADSS accessory is specifically designed to minimize the dynamic strain at the support point. In doing so, it protects the conductor against the negative effects of oscillations.
  • Preformed tension clamp: This one is mainly used for structural reinforcing of the ADSS cable.
  • Armor rod: This type of ADSS fitting is designed to protect the cable against compression and bending.
  • Downlead clamp: The fitting is used for guiding ADSS optical cable from the top of the pole structure to the splice box.
  • Thimble clevis: This one is used in conjunction with preformed dead-end insulators. It provides a smooth contour while at the same time minimizes the strain in the loop.

How to Install ADSS Cable Accessories?

Although there are different types of ADSS cable fittings, their methods of installation are almost similar. Most of them are directly installed in the ADSS cable. In most cases, more than one ADSS accessory is used to support the ADSS cable onto the pole. Various techniques can be used for attaching these accessories to the ADSS cable. Each technique depends on the type of fitting that is used. For instance, for the vibration dampers, the fitting is usually installed whereby the gripping section is directed towards the tower so that it can spin freely.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are different types of ADSS cable hardware that you can buy. One last thing that you should always remember is to choose a reliable ADSS accessories manufacturer.
