Armor Grip Suspension
An Armor Grip Suspension, also known as a suspension helix, is made of hot dip galvanized steel wires and aluminum alloy that are placed side by side and joined together to form a loop in the mid region. The ends of the loop are adjusted to form a helix that is resistant to tension and is placed horizontally between the steel wires. The loops are designed for holding a thimble (clevis thimble), which in return suspends the cable from the ole with the help of a twisted link.
Professionals have created the design and the size of the armor grip suspension – the suspension helix – in such a way that it alleviates the chance of any kind of deformation in the area where the cable and the fixture meet. This is made possible by increasing the total area of contact.
The helix attaches to the cable in such a way that all forces spread uniformly over the equipment: the suspension helix.
