Arrowhead Anchors, also known as Arrowhead ground anchors, are deep foundation support systems designed for securing structures in various soil types. These anchors consist of a triangular metal head (arrowhead) attached to a galvanized steel cable. Arrowhead Anchors come in different sizes, ranging from 3 a 10 pulgadas, and are made of either ductile iron, acero, or aluminum. Types include aluminum arrowheads and steel arrowheads, with the Bullet anchor being a specialty version for tough, hard soil.

Arrowhead Anchors function by transferring structural loads to stable soil layers. Installation involves driving the anchor into the ground using a specialized drive rod and either a sledgehammer, fence driver, or hydraulic/pneumatic impact hammer. Once inserted, the drive rod is removed, and the anchor is “colocar” by pulling on the cable, causing the arrowhead to rotate perpendicular to the pull direction. Arrowhead Anchors are used with various products including retaining walls, torres, antenas, portable shelters, and erosion control systems.

Preguntas frecuentes (Preguntas frecuentes)

Arrowhead Earth Anchor

What is an Arrowhead Earth Anchor?

A specialized ground anchoring device shaped like an arrowhead, made from ductile iron or heat-treated aluminum. It’s driven into the ground and rotates perpendicular to the pull direction, creating a toggle action for maximum holding power in challenging soil conditions.

What sizes are available for Arrowhead Anchors?

Arrowhead anchors range from 2 pulgadas a 17 inches in width, with common sizes being 2″, 3″, 4″, 6″, 8″, and 10″. The size is measured across the top at the broadest point of the arrowhead.

What is the pull-out resistance capacity?

Small 2-inch models can hold up to 600 lbs in hardpan soils, while larger models can achieve up to 4,200 lbs holding power in certain soil conditions. Capacity varies based on soil type and installation depth.

What are the minimum installation depths?

2-inch or 4-inch arrowhead anchors require 3 feet minimum depth. Larger arrowhead anchors need 4 feet minimum. Installation depth directly affects holding poweran extra 12 inches can increase holding power by 20%.

How are Arrowhead Anchors installed?

Installation requires three steps: driving the anchor into ground using a drive rod and hammer/impact tool, removing the drive rod, and pulling the cable to “colocar” o “keythe anchor into position. The anchor must face away from pull direction.

What installation tools are needed?

For small anchors (2-4 pulgada), use a drive rod and sledgehammer. For 6-inch and larger anchors, use hydraulic, pneumatic, or gasoline-driven impact hammers. Electric jackhammers (35-pound) work well for 4-6 inch anchors.

What soil types are Arrowhead Anchors best suited for?

They excel in hard, compact, and rocky soils. The unique triangular design allows the anchor to thread between rocks and obstacles. They’re particularly effective in stiff clays and soils with high compaction.

Can pilot holes be used for installation?

Sí, augering pilot holes is recommended in stiff soils. Por ejemplo, a 4-inch pilot hole should be augered 6 inches deeper than design depth. This reduces installation time and prevents anchor damage from hidden obstacles.

How do you determine required anchor strength?

Calculate using the formula: Required Strength = Base Load × Safety Factor × Soil Factor × Angle Factor. Consider direct load, wind load, tipo de suelo, and load angle when determining specifications.

What are the cable options available?

Anchors come with galvanized steel aircraft cable in various lengths (36″, 48″, 60″, 72″, 120″). Custom lengths and stainless steel cables are available. Cable diameter options range from 1/8to 5/16″.
